Welcome Fellow DC-8 Enthusiasts!

As you may guess from my email, eBay and web addresses – I’m a HUGE fan of the Douglas DC-8 and have been for over 40 years! I created this site in the year 2000 to display my DC-8 model collection. However, though I am still enthusiastically showing my models (see above & below), I am also continuously adding more and more information about the Wonderful History of the DC-8 and the Airlines who operated and Continue To Operate What I Consider To Be The Finest FirstGeneration Jetliner. Please click on any of the links below for more information about the-8.

The Douglas DC8 (also called the McDonnell Douglas DC 8 ) is an American four-engine mid- into – long-range narrow-body jet airliner made from 1958 to 1972 by the Douglas Aircraft Company.

This beautiful model was in my collection from 2000-2002 when I traded it away. This year I was very fortunate to have the opportunity to reacquire it in May with Many Thanks to Judy Kuperstein. I’m delighted to have it back in my collection.

DC-8 – Still In Commercial Service Around The World For Over 51 Super DC-8 Years!

Launched after the rival Boeing 707, the DC 8 still kept Douglas at a strong standing at the airliner market, also stayed in production until 1972 as it has begun to be blindsided by more significant widebody designs, including the Boeing 747, McDonnell Douglas dc 10, also Lockheed L-1011 tri-star. Even DC 8’s plan let some continue to be in use plus it a cargo capacity compared to 707.

Thanks For Visiting My Web Site – I Hope You Enjoy It.

FredCox DC-8 Jet collection Information & Photos

This year Marks my 36th Anniversary of Collecting Professionally finished-8 Models. Through 2005 I’ve collected models from Large Scale DouglasFactory Type Polished Aluminum Models (DFM’s), which are My Specialty, and Cutaway Models>> Down To Small Scale 1/200, 1/400 & 1/500 Scale Die-Cast Models. Since 2005 I’ve been reducing my Resin/Plastic/Fiberglass/Die-CastDC-8 model collection and concentrating On Collecting- The DouglasFactory Polished Aluminum Models (DFM’s) Who Are My True Passion.

Also, I collect memorabilia about the DC-8 & the two great airlines that I had the privilege of working for – Western Airlines & Delta Air Lines.

Way back in 1973 when I acquired my first Douglas Factory DC-8 model(Iberia Livery) I never, in my wildest dreams, though I could someday have a DC-8 Collection with a Large Scale Metal Model, preferably a DFM Type, of each of the 44 Original Delivery Customers. However, on June 13, 2005, my dream came true with the addition of the last original customer I needed – which was a Riddle Airlines DC-8F-54.

Looking forward, I plan to continue collecting DC-8 DFM’s and a few more DC-9 DFM’s as well, but perhaps not as aggressively as in the past due to minimal availability of “new or undiscovered” liveries on these beautiful polished aluminum models. If you would like to read a more detailed history about my 36 years of model collecting, please click on the “My Personal History of Model Collecting….” below.

Most importantly, I hope to continue expanding this web site to include more & more information about the great Douglas Eight!
